Same-Day Windshield Replacement: How It Actually Works

A crack spreads across your windshield on Tuesday morning and you need the car for Wednesday. Is same-day replacement a real thing or a marketing line? For most common vehicles it is very real, as long as a few pieces fall into place.

Short answer: if the glass for your model is in stock or available from a local distributor that morning, your windshield can usually be replaced the same day, including the ADAS recalibration. The car then needs a short adhesive cure time before it is safe to drive.

The same-day timeline

1. Morning call

You send your VIN or vehicle details. That is how we identify the exact glass variant: rain sensor, camera, acoustic layer, heated wiper park.

2. Glass sourced

Common models are often in stock; the rest usually arrive from Montreal-area distributors within hours.

3. Installation

Old urethane trimmed, new glass set with fresh adhesive, mouldings and sensors transferred. A focused job, not a rushed one.

4. Calibration and cure

Camera recalibrated, then the urethane needs its minimum cure time before you drive off. Plan for the car to rest a little.

What can turn same-day into next-day

Three things, mostly. A rare glass variant, think head-up display or exotic trim on an uncommon model, that no local distributor stocks. A vehicle where the manufacturer requires a long static calibration slot late in the day. Or heavy corrosion around the frame that needs treatment before new glass can bond safely. None of these are common, and we flag them at the quote stage rather than on your hood.

Why not to wait anyway

Quebec’s vehicle safety standards regulation sets strict limits on windshield damage in the wiper sweep area. A crack that crosses your view is not just an inconvenience, it can be a compliance problem at inspection time, as we covered in our guide on driving with a cracked windshield.

How to make your same-day happen

Call early and have your VIN ready, mention every gadget near your mirror (camera, sensors, tint band), and tell us if the car has to be back on the road by a specific hour. With that information up front, our windshield replacement service can confirm glass availability and book the calibration into the same visit instead of a second trip.

Need it done today?

Send your VIN and a photo of the damage now, and we will tell you honestly whether today is realistic for your model.
